My wife, Stanis, my daughter, Sasha and I were in Cuba in September, 2007. Sasha is now in her 4th year of Medicine. We stayed in Cuba for about 2 weeks. When we arrived at the Havana Airport, the authorities thought that I was Spanish. My surname being 'Gomez'.
Anyway we had a wonderful stay and made friends with many Cubans. They are lovely and friendly. We visited one particular Church near our hotel. It was a good experience.
What we found tough was communicating with the good folks. We hardly knew spanish.
Somehow, we got along with the people.
Cuba is a lovely country but the embargo is really affecting the availability of goods, but the resolve of the people can carry it through any adversities. I can see it in their eyes. They are proud of their country and their leaders.

I shall write more soon
